Welcome Basket items-
It was shared with the group our efforts to get a welcome basket to all new businesses when they come into the area. James and Ben from The Hampton at Salmon Creek will start delivering these. The group was asked to share 5-7 or more items to put in the welcome baskets. They can be dropped off at The Hampton. Todd Bingham stated that he would look into possible printing something with the SCBG logo on it for our baskets.
Beneficiary ideas for events-
The group is in need of options for beneficiaries for our fundraiser events. Past beneficiaries were shared, WSU, CHH&H, Local Schools, Legacy Salmon Creek, Clark County Food Bank. No ideas were shared at this time. It was offered that members could think about it and send ideas to the board through e mail.
Host/Sponsorship businesses for 2014 calendar year –
The group is in need of sponsors for the 2014 calendar year for events. A Breakfast conversation host can provide breakfast or donate $100 and we will purchase breakfast for the event. A Meet and Greet
Is $200 to host or they can cater themselves.
New member involvement –
The discussion was opened on how we can expand our memberships. Ben Suomi from The Hampton at Salmon Creek recommended expanding our e mail list to all employees of a members business. Getting our name and events out to as many people in the community will help us grow. Charise shared that the reason for only having two members on the spreadsheet e mail list was because it was hard to maintain. Ben offered to help get us set up with Mail Chimp, this will make it much easier to manage. “More is Better” We all need to help. We could focus on highlighting a few businesses at each event. Charise shared an event that the SCBG had a few years ago, “speed networking,” that this might be an option to try again at a Meet and Greet. The idea to try a “progressive dinner” or something that gets members moving from business to business.
Business Conversation topics –
Interest was voiced for the following topics and the group was asked to send or share additional ideas.
- How to e mail market and use social media
- “Merchandising your business” The visual effect.
Salmon Creek Update event –
The Salmon Creek Business Group would like to have an annual event Jan./Feb of each year where we could invite members and non-members to hear what is going on in Salmon Creek. “Who lives in SC?” Invite a representative from Public Works, WADOT to give updates on the traffic and construction, neighborhood association rep. Debbie Belden will be hosting this as a morning event.
Other Misc. Ideas –
The SCBG has wanted to purchase window decals with “I’m a member of the Salmon Creek Business Group” for members business windows but we have not had the funds. Todd Bingham from Available Creations said that he could do this for the group and will look into this.
The group has also wanted to make a brochure to put in our welcome baskets and give to members to hand to potential new members. This would tell a little bit about the group and our mission. The idea was brought up to offer members to be able to put their logo and “sponsored by” on the back of the brochures for a fee to help pay for the brochures. Kit from US Bank and Debbie from Farrar’s voiced interest.
Debbie from Farrar’s and Peggy from Studio E Fitness committed to donating items for raffles for 2014 events. We will try to have a raffle for each event and tell members for every person they invite to the event they will get a raffle ticket for the drawing.
We would like to start having the group and members participate in service projects for the community this year, 2014.
The idea was shared to find out what we could do to clean up Klineline. We will look into this. The group was asked to think about this and share ideas for the new year for us to get involved in.
