The City of Vancouver, in collaboration with 13 nonprofit partners, is hosting www.VancouverBusinessResource.org. It is an open source tool for all communities and non-profts to post business information and resources. The website provides inspiration and guidance for those looking to start, maintain, or expand their business. There is additional information for those entrepreneurs working to commercialize inventions.
At the website, you will find information on the steps to take depending on where you’re at in the process, find events and workshops to help you along the way, and real stories from folks who have gone through the process sharing what they’ve learned.
“In the spirit of community, out partners have brought together a wealth of knowledge of resources to help your business succeed. A vibrant region depends on thriving local businesses, strong non-profts, and an active city government working together. This is one step in supporting a prosperous economy,” said Vancouver Mayor Tim Leavitt.
The website development is sponsored by Columbia Credit Union, and hosted and maintained by the City of Vancouver. The Vancouver Business Journal is hosting a comprehensive Events Calendar that pertains to all business trainings and pertinent meetings.
“This is an evolving resource that is intented to be owned by this community,” said Jan Harte with the Washington State University Small Business Development Center. “It will be constantly changing and updated quaterly to insure it provides relevant, timely, and accurate information.”
Throughout the next several weeks, the website developers are looking for comments and feedback regarding the site before a formal launch in January 2012. Please send comments to Johnnie Hildreth at firstname.lastname@example.org
